Data Privacy Compliance: The Starting Line, Not The Finish Line

In early July, for example, the EU and the U.S. agreed to a new Data Privacy Framework, allowing more effortless consumer data transfer from the EU to U.S. servers. This news came on the heels of a $1.3 billion fine against Meta after the Irish Data Protection Commission found Facebook’s parent company to have violated data transfer regulations.

Meanwhile, in the absence of a national data privacy referendum in the U.S., individual states have been busy making laws: More than 20% now have passed privacy legislation. Likewise, industry regulation updates like PCI DSS 4 have also forced companies to institute best practices to maintain compliance.
