[EXCERPT] New DPOs do not have the luxury of time. Already they are called to task, often to clean up years of undocumented and constantly changing data-gathering practices. Stiff financial penalties are already in place with GDPR, other state-by-state legislation is underway and customer trust is plummeting in brands. All of this casts serious, dark shadows on the critical DPO role.
